I help clients develop new and different approaches to resolving personal problems in a respectful and supportive environment. I believe that clients bring many inner strengths and resources to therapy. Cultivating these strengths is an integral part of the way I practice therapy. I focus on strengthening the connections between clients and family members/significant others. I pay attention to the family dance. Change occurs when there is a shift in the dance.
I have been in the helping profession for over 20 years, in both public and private settings. I have had intensive post-graduate training in marriage and family therapy at Virginia Tech. I am presently an adjunct faculty member at Virginia Tech where I supervise graduate and post-graduate students in a clinic setting.
On a personal note, I have been married for twenty eight years and have two sons, ages 16 and 21. Born and raised in New Jersey, I spent the first six years of my career as a social worker in the public health field. Upon moving to Virginia in 1986, my husband and I began our family and I began my journey as a marriage and family therapist. It has been a fulfilling journey both personally and professionally.
